A JUNE DEVOTION ON LOVE AND THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Man cannot live without love. He remains a being that is incomprehensible without love. His life is senseless if love is not revealed to him, if he does not encounter love, if he does not encounter love, if he does not experience it and make it his own, if he does not participate intimately in it. This is why Christ the Redeemer “fully reveals man to himself”. This is the human dimension of the mystery of the Redemption. In this dimension man finds again the greatness, dignity and value that belong to his humanity. In the mystery of the Redemption, man becomes newly “expressed” and, in a way, is newly created. The man who wishes to understand himself thoroughly must, with his unrest, uncertainty, even with his weakness and sinfulness, with his life and death, draw near to Christ. He must, so to speak, enter into Him with all his own self, he must “appropriate” and assimilate the whole of the reality of the Incarnation and Redemption in order to find himself. Love and service give meaning to our lives and make them beautiful, because we know for what reason, and to whom we are committed. It is in the name of Christ Who loved us and served us first. Is there anything greater than knowing that we are loved? How can we fail to respond joyfully as we wait for the Lord? Love is the witness, par excellence, which leads to hope. Service of others transfigures life; it shows that hope and living in fraternal union are stronger than any temptation to despair. Love can triumph in every circumstance.

{Pope Saint John Paul II}

Bishop Anthony writes: We must love one another as Christ loves us. Our lives must be based on the certain knowledge that Jesus loves us so much that he died in agony on Calvary that we might be saved: that is, reconciled with GOD. All love flows from the Heart of GOD in whose image we are made, and by Whose love we have been redeemed. The Heart of Jesus is sacred because He is sacred! The Sacred Heart of Jesus burns with unspeakable love for us, even though we do not deserve it. And the burning love which emanates from that Heart is the reason that we know love at all! Every expression of love which we give to one another comes totally from the Sacred Heart of Jesus – the Heart of GOD Himself!

Let us pray: O God, Who in the Heart of Thy Son, wounded by our sins, dost vouchsafe mercifully to bestow upon us the infinite treasures of Thy love, grant, we beseech Thee, that giving Him the homage of our devout piety and love, we may likewise show forth the duty of worthy satisfaction, day by day. Through the same, our Lord and Blessed Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.

And a Passing Thought

This is what I want for you above everything else: that you act out of pure love for Jesus Christ, and out of the desire for His glory and the salvation of souls that He redeemed at such a cost.

{Saint Ignatius Loyola}

SACRED HEART OF JESUS, TRUE GOD AND TRUE MAN: HAVE MERCY UPON US!

SACRED AND EUCHARISTIC HEART OF JESUS: WE GIVE THEE OUR OWN HEARTS!

SACRED HEART OF JESUS: POUR THY LOVE MORE AND MORE INTO OUR OWN HEARTS!

SACRED HEART OF JESUS: MAY WE BE WITH THEE, ONE DAY, FOR ALL ETERNITY!

IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY: O, BE OUR SALVATION!

But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they brake not His legs, but one of the soldiers, with a spear, pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record: and his record is true. And he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled. {Saint John: Chapter 19}

Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in Heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you. {Matthew: 11}

O, SACRED HEART: OUR HOME LIES DEEP IN THEE! +Amen+
